Acting on a complaint lodged on 14.08.2020 at Police Station Nowabad by a complainant namely -Sunny Gill S/o Jagdeep Singh R/O Ludhiana,
who was staying at Hotel Ramada and was in Jammu in connection with Real Estate business. That on the night of 13.08.2020 the complainant was forcefully kidnapped by Balbir Singh owner of Bawa Tour & travels and his associates at gun point. The complainant was kept confined in the house of Balbir Singh at Amar Colony, Camp Gol Gujral Road, Jammu- who threatened him for a payment of Rs.10.00 lacs or of dire consequences. The accused persons extorted a sum of Rs 50,000 from the complainant. On the following day the complainant fearing threat to his life escaped the place of confinement by jumping from the Ist floor of the building and informed police.
The police immediately swung into action and Case FIR no. 108/20 u/s 347/364A/386/34 IPC, 3/25 Arms Act was registered at PS Nowabad.
A team headed by SHO Nowabad Insp. Deepak Jasrotia and assisted by SI Kali Charan arrested the kidnappers who were identified as:
1. Balbir Singh s/o Mehar Singh R/o Amar colony camp Gole Gujral Road, Jammu &
2. Gurdeep Singh s/o Manjeet Singh R/o Aman Vihar, Munshi Chak camp Gole Gujral Road,Jammu.
On the disclosure of accused Balbir Singh following items have been recovered which were used in the commission of offence:
1. One silver grey coloured Innova with registration no.- JK02BW/3999.
2. One Revolver 0.32 along with 05 live cartridges,
3. Rs 50,000- extorted money
4 DVR of CCTV installed at the house of accused Balbir Singh.
The team headed by SHO Nowabad was working under the close supervision of SDPO Hdqrs. Shwetambri Sharma, SP North and SSP Jammu Shridhar Patil .
Investigation into the case is in progress, some more arrests are awaited as search of other accused persons is going on.
